There are many people I have researched whom have my respect. These action figures and horses represent those individuals who I look up to--from Black Cowboys of the Old West to Secretariat and his groom, Eddie Sweat. Take a trip back in time to view my representations of each.
Over 25% of the cowboys in the Old West were Black, although they were never portrayed in old TV shows. They were an integral part of the Old West. Above are my interpretations (in order, starting with Bass Reeves) of these Black Cowboys, including Bass Reeves, Ben Kinchlow, Bill Pickett, Bill Tige Avery, Bose Ikard, Charlie Willis, Daniel Webster Wallce, George Adams, George McDow, George McJunkin, Isom Dart, Jesse Stahl, Jim Kelly, Jim Perry, Nat Love and Robert Lemmons. There were many black cowgirls and women of The Old West, too (see photos below), including Johanna July; Henrietta Williams Foster, known as "Aunt Rittie"; and Mary Fields, known as "Stagecoach Mary" (versions 1 and 2). I have also created other non-historical black cowboys/cowgirls/ladies that can be seen on the "Cowboys/Cowgirls" Action Figures page.
Even though these photos are based on the TV Show, I chose to show Daniel Boone here as he is a historical figure. I did not make the Daniel Boone figure (it was made by "Hero for Hire" on eBay); and I did not make the Mingo figure (just added some accessories). Mingo was made by my friend, Tommy Alligood.
Check out the next page to see more Historical Figures, including Buffalo Bill, Sitting Bull, Johnny Baker, Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, John Young Nelson, Wild Bill Hickock, Calamity Jane and more!
